Call upon Canadian Businesses to Join an Exploration Tour in Rostov Region, Russia

May 22, 2012 – Toronto - Rostov-on-Don, Russia – Providence Group Director of International Relations, Taras Paslavskyi, has visited Rostov-on-Don on May 16 and 17 with a working visit on the invitation of Rostov State University of Economics (RSUE). He gave a two-day lecture to the student body of RSUE on Canada-Russia Economic Relations and on Education Opportunities in Canada for Russian Students.

 

He was also one of the keynote speakers at the International Conference on Economy and Innovation Issues, organized by the Rostov Institute, Russian State University of Trade and Economics (RSUTE) (http://www.rostov-rsute.ru/konf180512.php). 

 

While in Rostov-on-Don, Mr. Paslavskyi met with Nikolay Prissyazhnyuk, President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Rostov Region and his International Relations Team. At the meeting, issues were discussed how Canadian and Russian businesses can work together more closely.  Providence Group will continue to work with the Chamber and will focus on organizing business and education missions between Canada and Rostov Region.

 

“This was a timely visit for Providence Group particularly in light of a planned visit by Canadian Minister of Trade and Minister for Asia-Pacific Gateway Hon. Ed Fast. He will lead a trade mission to Russia from June 3 to June 8, 2012. On this trip, Minister Ed Fast will visit Moscow, St. Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don,” stated Mr. Paslavskyi.

 

Currently, Rostov-on-Don is not known in Canada as the place to do business. But there are enormous opportunities for Canada to increase trade, business relations and cooperation in the field of education with Rostov Region businesses and institutions. It has been identified as a place of geo-political significance to the Russian Federation with a well-developed transportation infrastructure, including 3 international sea ports and international airport.  It is abundant in mineral and natural resources and situated in the moderate continental climate.  The region is investment friendly due to its dynamic banking and insurance systems, high consumer demand that stems from the skilled and efficient workforce.
