Kyiv, December 10, 2013 – State Space Agency of Ukraine (SSAU) and Providence Group concluded a meeting, where international educational initiatives for Canadians were discussed.
State Space Agency of Ukraine is responsible for cooperation with other national and international space agencies, and for organizing and developing all space activities in Ukraine under its jurisdiction. Providence Group is a Canadian consulting firm and a member of Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC) that offers professional service to Ukrainian, Russian and Canadian aerospace corporations.
This year, SSAU has founded the Kyiv Aerospace Education Center (KAEC) for international professionals, military and space personnel and students, who would like to upgrade their professional skills and education in the field of space, space rocket engines, engineering, shuttles, satellites and other innovative products. Distinguished Ukrainian space scientists have developed online courses and lectures that are due to be launched in the fall of 2014. SSAU invites Canadians, Canadian space specialists and scientists to be as guest lecturers at KAEC as well as its participants. KAEC could be conducive towards developing ties and formal agreement between Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and SSAU. “KAEC could be a solid step for bringing closer space industries of Ukraine and Canada,” said Dr. Borys Atamanenko, Head of the International Department, SSAU.
“Today the space industry is a priority for countries and their economies. Canada and Ukraine could benefit enormously from partnering with each other in this sector. Commercial activities in space projects, education and R&D could open new horizons and strengthen the economies of both countries,” added Dr. Atamanenko.
Ukrainian space corporations have a successful and long record in the space sector.
“Ukrainian innovative space technologies, R&D, current and future projects could be of interest to the Canadian space industries. Most importantly, they meet the criteria of the skills development needs and opportunities for space-related commercial activity outlined in the Emerson Report on Space,” stated Taras Paslavskyi, Director of International Relations, Providence Group.
As a Canadian company, Providence Group can introduce Ukrainian space companies to CSA and AIAC as well as Canadian companies to SSAU. Providence Group can facilitate their business interests for mutual benefit of all.
SSAU will continue to work diligently on advancing KAEC to all interested parties.
