Toronto, May 19, 2011 – Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has signed an agreement with Providence Group to recruit pupils from Ukraine to study at TDSB schools.  Providence Group is an international recruiting agency that specializes in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan and Canada.

“TDSB offers pupils education of high international standard and is happy to extend this opportunity to interested students from Ukraine, who want to enroll in the TDSB elementary, secondary and International Summer Camp programs,” commented Dr. Smita Sengupta, Senior Manager at International Programs and Admission Office, TDSB, on extending this opportunity to Ukrainian children, teenagers and their parents.   

“Canada is home to 1.2 million of Ukrainian-Canadians and about one hundred thousand of them reside in Ontario.  Toronto is the center of active Ukrainian-Canadian community life, which will help Ukrainian students swiftly integrate with the Canadian youth and feel like at home,” stated Taras Paslavskyi, Director of Providence Group.

This is the first agreement of its kind that promotes Toronto elementary, secondary and International Summer Camp programs to students of appropriate age in Ukraine.  Providence Group provides consulting and support services on admission process to Ukrainian pupils and their parents free of charge. 

Tuition and living expense must be covered by the Ukrainian applicants; tuition fee includes health care insurance.  Students have an opportunity of being fully emerged in the Canadian lifestyle by staying with Canadian families in a homestay arrangement.    

TDSB is the largest publicly funded school board in Canada that serves over 250,000 students in more than 550 elementary and secondary schools.  TDSB enables all students to reach high levels of achievement and to acquire the knowledge, skills and values they need to become responsible members of society.
